Your trusted, one‑stop guide to Rome

Rome spreads over its hills on both banks of the Tiber, from the Vatican and Trastevere to the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps and the Villa Borghese. Here are the grand hotels and the 2026 MICHELIN stars, the coffee bars, trattorias and wine bars, the ancient sites, the churches and the galleries, the parks and the piazzas, and day trips to Tivoli, Ostia Antica, the Castelli Romani, Orvieto and Pompeii. We’ve checked every listing against the venue’s own website or an official source, and we leave out anything we can’t confirm.

Book the big sights before you fly

The Colosseum, the Vatican Museums and the Galleria Borghese sell timed tickets on their official sites, and the first slots go first. Book them before you travel, and only on the official sites. Rome essentials
